TERMS AND POLICIES FOR TUTORS
1. To be considered for a tutor-student match, you will need to be a registered tutor with Tuition Point.
2. To be eligible to register as a tutor with us, you must meet the following conditions:
3. You must have GCE O Levels or equivalent degree as your minimum academic qualifications. As and when required, you must be able to produce all necessary documents to certify your academic qualifications.
4. If you are a school teacher or ex-school teacher, you need not have to show your examination certificates but you have to show proof or recognized teaching qualifications.
5. You need to have at least an O Level or equivalent pass in English. Without that you may still register but may only teach subjects that are in a language medium other than English.
6. You are expected to complete the registration form accurately and to the best of your knowledge.
7. In the event if it is discovered in the future that the data that you submitted is not entirely accurate, you will risk your status as a registered tutor with Tuition Point.
8. All personal information submitted will be kept in the strictest confidence and will be used by Tuition Point for contact and verification purposes only.
9. Tuition Point recognizes that it is possible for tutors without excellent grades to be good tutors. However, tutors should be competent and have reasonably good grades in the subjects they teach.
9a. A tutor must have scored an A2 or better in the subject at the level being taught, unless the tutor has achieved at least a B in the same subject at a higher level. For example, for a tutor to be qualified to teach O Level Physics, the tutor must have scored an A1 or A2 in an equivalent examination.
9b. If the tutor did not achieve these grades at O Level, the tutor can still qualify if he or she had scored A or B for A Level Physics.
9c. If the tutor is a qualified teacher or a very experienced tutor, he or she could be exempted from this requirement.
10. Registration Procedures. You will need to submit a complete registration form via our website to register or you may call the personnel in charge to register via phone. Once your application has been received, an acknowledgement in the form of an email or phone call will be made to you. Within the following three working days, you will be informed if you have been successfully registered as a tutor with Tuition Point.
11. Data Record Updating. Please keep your records in our database current and accurate. We will remind you via email or phone to update your record if it has not been updated in six months.
12. Registration is FREE. Charges only apply when the tutor has accepted an assignment.
13. In order to give both tutors and students an opportunity to build the rapport needed for a successful tuition, we have implanted a compulsory two-week trial period.
14. During this compulsory two-week period, the student will pay the tutor the standard tuition rates as previously agreed. A commission of 50% or 50 Singapore dollars, whichever is lower, will be charged. The student is therefore free to discontinue the tuition assignment if he/she chooses to do so.
15. Should the assignment carry on as per normal, a mandatory 35% percent commission will be charged for the following four weeks of tuition.
16. Thereafter neither the tutor nor the student or parent has any further commercial obligations to Tuition Point concerning the relevant assignments.
17. From time to time, Tuition Point may require tutors to give a free first trial lesson to the student. In such special circumstances, the tutor may choose not to accept such assignments. However if they do, Tuition Point will reimburse the tutor 20 to 40 Singapore dollars depending the tuition assignment. The reimbursement will be made at the sole discretion of Tuition Point, however the amount will be made known to the tutor before he or she decides to accept the assignment.
After such a free trial lesson, the above conditions for commission continue to apply.
18. The student will pay the first month tuition fees to Tuition Point, following which, Tuition Point will pay the tutor his/her fees less the commissions to Tuition Point.
19. Discontinuing as Assignment. An assignment may be discontinued immediately after the first lesson on special grounds. (E.g Tutor could not provide examination certificates) In such unusual circumstances, the tutor would not be compensated and would be blacklisted by Tuition Point.
20. Disclaimer. Tuition Point will not responsible for resolving conflicts or disagreement that may arise between the tutor and student.
21. Modification. Tuition Point reserves the rights to modify any terms and policies in its sole discretion, by posting a change notice or a new agreement on its site. A notification by an email or a phone call will be made should there be any modifications. If any modification is unacceptable to you, you may terminate this agreement. Your continued participation in our agency as a registered student following our posting of any new modifications will constitute a binding acceptance of the change.
22. Frauds and dishonesty. Any attempts to cheat or deprive Tuition Point of its legal share of its commission will be dealt with seriously. In order to prevent such awful situations to occur, either students or tutors who have agreed to pay Tuition Point its commission will have to sign a letter of undertaking stating that the due commission will be paid to the agency. This letter is legally binding. Once the commission is collected, an official receipt from the said agency will be issued to the payee.
23. Limitation of Liability. We will not be liable for indirect, special or consequential damages arising in connection with your use of our website.
